Shingeki
Shingeki is the most modern Western-type of drama in Japan. It uses natural acting and contemporary themes. It was created around early 20th century. It was introduced to Japanese audiences to introduce Western playwrights, but later introduced Japanese playwrights.

Plots of Shingeki style theater has changed compared to Traditional styles. While traditional styles have one concise theme, plots of Shingeki style can be extremely confusing. Time jumps between past and present and future are common in these kinds of plays. Plots vary from any type of theme.

Shingeki style plays had very similar stages to Western stages, which were just very large stages. At first, Shingeki style of music and dancing were replicated to be like the Westerners, but as Shingeki style of music changed to Japanese playwrights, it combined the different styles of Japanese theatre to create a hybrid of all the theaters combined.
